Lethargy doesn’t appear out of thin air
I’ve realized I’m exhausted because my very existence is always a debate

A piece of hot legislation, the very basics of how it works misconstrued
Nobody wants to listen when you explain that nobody is proposing doing surgery on middle schoolers, that we want access to hormone medication and blockers used for endometriosis and cancer and even fucking acne and excessive body hair
If you’re cis, that is.

You can’t even relax and watch TV without a man-in-a-dress joke, a what’s-your-genitals joke
You can’t even look at porn without it being slurs and aggressive gendering
Without people INSISTING that unless the doujin character shouts “I’M TRANSGENDER,” they’re just a crossdresser, even if they present and live as that gender full-time and are only revealed by their genitals
(That is, if you find porn like you in the first place)
(The ethics of porn is something I'm too tired to get into. Erotica, fanfic, doujinshi, whatever - same rules apply.)

People will call you a homophobe or a misogynist for daring to exist - no matter what your gender and sexuality are
(Trans women accused of invading women’s spaces and having their “socialization” stressed)
(Trans men told it’s just internalized misogyny, that we’re traitors who just want to uphold patriarchy to escape it)
That’s one that comes up a lot - “you don’t want people to be gender non-conforming”
“You’ll call every tomboy or lesbian a trans man”
“You’re reinforcing toxic masculinity by pressuring feminine men to transition”
But of course, if you show any sign of non-conformance
(A trans woman not shaving. A trans man in a skirt.)
You’re a faker, not even trying, a trender, a liar.

So can you blame me for getting through each day with a can of Monster and a dose of Concerta?
For sleeping for 12 hours?
Never mind the pandemic, the season, any other axis of marginalization
That is this fucking exhausting.
You spend all your mental energy justifying your own existence
To others, or even yourself
No wonder I need stimulants.
